Shamit
Khemka, founder of the IT services company SynapseIndia, has
repeatedly shown his enthusiasm about social welfare and corporate
social responsibility (CSR) altogether. He believes that in an era of
increased awareness about CSR business should play a more innovative
role in socioeconomic development. The umbrella of CSR has expanded
unprecedentedly over the past few years. The corporate world has seen
a dramatic rise in awareness about issues like ecological impact
created by companies, sexual harassment in the workplace, and
diversity in organizations. A range of issues as diverse as this
makes CSR an intricate part of industrial management.
Mr. Khemka
understands that diversity initiatives need more attention,
especially for improving women's participation in the corporate
world. However, the diversity debate should be much broader, and more
than gender gap, he says. Mr. Khemka has emphasized the need for
creating a workforce that includes every culture, language, sexual
orientation, disability, and experience, among other things.
