Shamit Khemka – Driving business success through a socially responsible model

Shamit Khemka, the founder of the software company SynapseIndia, has been actively engaged in a number of CSR initiatives. Mr. Khemka strongly believes that by becoming socially responsible, companies can share a slice of their success and growth with the needful people in society. He says that successful businesses should develop a voluntary corporate social responsibility program. Such programs help the organization convey a message to the public that the company believes in social responsibility. The programs also help in informing prospective employees that the company has a value-addition for them through which they can contribute to society.

Mr. Khemka believes in giving away a specific percentage of the company's profit. For example, SynapseIndia has been supporting the International Chandramauli Charitable Trust. The company offers financial and technical support to the Trust that works for the welfare of children from the poor class. Moreover, SynapseIndia has also been profoundly aware of the organization's environmental responsibilities. It ensures the energy and other resources are utilized efficiently.

Shamit Khemka – CSR Through a Diverse Workforce

Shamit Khemka, founder of the IT services company SynapseIndia, has repeatedly shown his enthusiasm about social welfare and corporate social responsibility (CSR) altogether. He believes that in an era of increased awareness about CSR business should play a more innovative role in socioeconomic development. The umbrella of CSR has expanded unprecedentedly over the past few years. The corporate world has seen a dramatic rise in awareness about issues like ecological impact created by companies, sexual harassment in the workplace, and diversity in organizations. A range of issues as diverse as this makes CSR an intricate part of industrial management.

Mr. Khemka understands that diversity initiatives need more attention, especially for improving women's participation in the corporate world. However, the diversity debate should be much broader, and more than gender gap, he says. Mr. Khemka has emphasized the need for creating a workforce that includes every culture, language, sexual orientation, disability, and experience, among other things.
